CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Nearly three times the number of fugitives expected turned themselves in during an amnesty program in Camden. The 2,245 who surrendered made Camden's initiative the second largest in the program's history, behind only Detroit.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The former chief of staff to Newark City Council President Mildred Crump pleads guilty to accepting bribes. Keith Reid made the plea in the middle of his federal trial. Reid is likely to face a sentence of about four years when he's sentenced in March.

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - New Orleans has beat out Camden in an annual ranking of crime-ridden cities. Camden topped the list for two years. It was ranked fourth last year.

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in Morris County are treating as suspicious the death of a wheelchair-bound man found in a church. The pastor of United Methodist Church in Rockaway reported discovering the body in a church meeting room. The man's name has not been released. Prosecutors say he may have gone to a church meeting on Wednesday night.
