Army rallies past Eastern Michigan 17-13
By JOHN KEKIS
Published: Oct 11, 2008

Collin Mooney gained a career-high 229 yards and helped set up quarterback Chip Bowden's decisive 9-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter, as Army rallied past Eastern Michigan 17-13 on Saturday for its second straight victory.

It was the first home win for Army (2-4) this season and snapped its five-game losing streak at Michie Stadium. Eastern Michigan (2-5), coming off a last-minute victory a week ago at Bowling Green, couldn't take advantage of Mooney's fumble midway through the fourth quarter, and the Black Knights held on.

Mooney, who had 187 yards rushing and scored four touchdowns in a 44-13 win a week ago at Tulane, became the first Army back to go over 200 yards since Carlton Jones had 213 against Air Force in 2004. It was the fourth-highest rushing total in academy history. Army finished with 341 yards rushing, the most since the Black Knights had 388 against New Mexico State in 1999.

Dwayne Priest had 118 yards rushing, but only 8 in the second half, and Andy Schmitt was 12-for-29 for 138 yards passing to pace Eastern Michigan. More
