Can-Am League baseball: Rapidz file for bankruptcy
By JARED SMITH For The Press, 609-272-7210
Published: Oct 08, 2008
After just one season in the Can-Am League, the Ottawa Rapidz filed for bankruptcy last week and will not participate in baseball operations next season.
"We found out at the owners' meeting last week," Surf President Chris Carminucci said. "It was a shock to us, even though it's a common thing in our league."
The Rapidz went 31-63, the worst record in league in 2008. However, Ottawa drew 101,073 fans, the fifth-most in the eight-team league.
"It's a tough loss for us. Ottawa is a good market," Carminucci said.
