Can-Am League baseball: Rapidz file for bankruptcy

After just one season in the Can-Am League, the Ottawa Rapidz filed for bankruptcy last week and will not participate in baseball operations next season.

"We found out at the owners' meeting last week," Surf President Chris Carminucci said. "It was a shock to us, even though it's a common thing in our league."

The Rapidz went 31-63, the worst record in league in 2008. However, Ottawa drew 101,073 fans, the fifth-most in the eight-team league.

"It's a tough loss for us. Ottawa is a good market," Carminucci said. More

Surf pleased with '08 attendance figures

Chris Carminucci had his goals set for the season. The list included groveling for forgiveness, urging fans to give the Atlantic City Surf another chance and putting out a product he could be proud of.
